Intro to Stake and Strand Willow Basketry Workshop with Skyler Hawkins

This course runs Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17, 2026, 10 am-5 pm both days. This course will teach beginners how to weave their first stake and strand willow basket. This very old basket style starts with a flat base, and builds the sides upwards with vertical “stakes” and horizontal “strands.” Locally grown willow of different sizes, colors, and textures will allow students to create their own completely unique pattern for a small round basket (about 9” wide and 8” tall).
